Butler is an unincorporated community in Johnson County, and it is located along the north side of Watauga Lake. The settlement of what is now known as Butler began in 1768, and it was originally located on Roan Creek at its confluence with the Watauga River.  The town was relocated to its’ current location in 1948, when the town was moved to make way for Watauga Lake. The original town is now known as “Old Butler” and is called “The Town That Wouldn’t Drown”.

This is the area of Johnson County where you can find properties that are lakefront or have lake views.  There are many types of properties available in this area including existing houses, lots for new construction, parcels of land and properties in gated communities.
